Зачем это знать
Дашборд для engineer'а и для CEO — разные вселенные. CEO хочет 3 числа, быстро, без context. Аналитики, которые не умеют упростить — никогда не получают executive visibility. С навыком executive dashboard — вы становитесь partner бизнеса.
На senior собесах часто просят: «покажи пример dashboard, который ты делал для exec».
Принципы
1. Bottom-line up front
Первое, что видит exec — answer. «Revenue up 15% MoM». Не заставляйте искать.
2. 5 метрик максимум
Не 30 KPIs. Выбрать critical 3-5.
3. Период standard
QoQ, YoY, MoM — одинаково по всем metrics. Consistency.
4. Traffic light колорс
Green / yellow / red. Sub-second understanding.
5. Context не данные
«CR 12%» — бесполезно. «CR 12% (was 10% last month, target 13%)» — meaningful.
Структура
Top: hero numbers
3-5 big numbers: Revenue, Users, Retention, key metric.
С trend indicator (↑↓) и % change.
Middle: trend charts
Line charts по main metrics за 12 мес.
Bottom: segments / drill-down
Топ products, geos, channels.

Do: Consistent style
Same colors, fonts, periods, decimal places.
Do: Clear titles
«Monthly recurring revenue (in thousands)» not «MRR_val».
Do: Annotations
Mark important events (launch, outage, holiday).
Do: Mobile-responsive
Execs check on phone.
Don'ts
Don't: Too many charts
3-5 хватит. Больше — overwhelming.
Don't: Overly detailed
Drill-down is per-click. Not default view.
Don't: Technical jargon
Не «p95 latency» — «slowest 5% requests».
Don't: Missing comparison
Every number — with comparison (YoY, target).

Top-level — summary. Click → segment analysis. Click → detail view.
Exec doesn't need detail, но может зайти если нужно.
Refresh rate
Daily? Weekly? Real-time?
Depends на what execs do with data:
- Daily ops decisions → daily
- Board meetings → weekly
- Strategic → monthly
Не auto-refresh real-time на exec dashboard — distracting.
Tools
Tableau / Looker / Power BI
Enterprise. Great for exec dashboards.
Metabase / Redash
Cheaper. Still works.
Google Sheets
Low-fi but often works — exports from warehouse into shared sheet.
Custom
Highly customized via React/Next.js для product-facing.
Iteration
Dashboard v1 never perfect. Iterate:
- Interview exec: что нужно?
- Build v1
- Watch them use it
- Find gaps

Most important feedback: «did they act on it?».
Common mistakes
Kitchen sink
All metrics pour on one page → nothing stands out.
Static
Monthly PDF email. Useful, но dashboard should be live.
No narrative
Numbers without «so what». Execs asking «what's the story».
Wrong granularity
Daily for CEO — too much noise. Weekly/monthly.

«Что excluded?» Detailed technical metrics, noisy daily swings.
«Как тестируете?» Watch exec use, interview, iterate.
